SUMMER IN SAVANNAH

Special events, fabulous food, and attractions galore make spending time in this exciting city a delight.

Put on your most comfortable walking shoes, pack some spending money, and bring a big appetite for food and fun to Savannah for the perfect Summer getaway.

The dizzying and fabulous array of food this time of year tantalizes and delights. Enjoy a great breakfast at Clary's Cafe in the historic district; don't pass up the Crab Cakes Benedict ($9.95). Another morning choice is the Cobblestone Cafe' for wonderful ham-and-chesse omelets ($9.25).

Have lunch at Queeny's To Go -Go. The shrimp with ham gravy over chesse grits ($9.50) will make you glad you went. For the best burger, head to B&D Burgers, where the half-pounder and fries run $6.49.

For dinner, you'll have terrific seafood at Bistro Savannah. Indulge in the Bar-B-Q Grouper and Shrimp Tasso Grits (422.95). Another fave is the Westin's Aqua Star restaurant.

There are several reasons to stay at the Westin Savannah Harbor golf Resort & Spa, just across the Savannah river from the historic district. You won't find a prettier view of the city than from this beautiful hotel, and free water taxis transport to abd from the historic district every 30 minutes. Rates start at $199.

If you'd like to stay in the historic district, the Hilton Savannah DeSoto provides a great central spot for shopping and dining. Rates start at $129. For a true splurge, check in to the Mansion on Forsyth Park. this luxurious inn features fabulous guest rooms and a spa. It also has a wonderful restaurant.
